About Sojourn Center
The Sojourn Center has an inspiring initiative to provide compassionate and dignified care for terminally ill individuals and their families in Southwest Virginia. Their vision is to create a state-of-the-art hospice house, offering expert medical care and emotional support in a serene environment where patients and their loved ones can find comfort, dignity, and peace during their end-of-life journey.
Currently, Sojourn Center is seeking the support of generous donors and the community to bring this vision to life. By raising the necessary funds, they aim to begin development of this exceptional hospice facility—a place that will serve as a sanctuary for those who need care beyond what can be provided at home.
Objective
- Design a user-friendly, ADA-compliant website to ensure accessibility for all visitors.
- Provide knowledgeable content about hospice care, making it a trusted resource for visitors.
- Highlight the mission and vision of Sojourn Center to raise awareness and encourage donations to support the construction of the new facility.
- Develop user friendly and intuitive online forms that make it easy for visitors and community members to get involved.
- Incorporate meaningful images throughout the site to communicate the center's compassionate mission.
- Architect a solution that ensures a seamless browsing experience across all devices.
- Design an intuitive navigation architecture that allows users to quickly find the information they need.
ACI Approach
To improve usability and create a more engaging experience, ACI redesigned the layout with clear content sections and ample white space, making the site easier to read and less cluttered. By customizing the WordPress theme and sourcing high-quality images and graphics, we enhanced the site's visual appeal and user engagement. ACI utilized a PCI compliant plugin to efficiently capture donor information, track donations, and provide a meaningful way to honor and thank donors for their pledges and support.
To maintain accessibility and a user-friendly experience, we used tools to identify and resolve potential issues. Recognizing that WordPress can sometimes introduce unnecessary code, we implemented plugins to remove unwanted scripts on pages where they were not needed, thereby optimizing page load times.
